Welcome to the Fruit Belt!
The Fruit Belt is a non-profit organization developed out of a need to protect and improve the quality of life within the historical Fruit Belt neighborhood and Medical Corridor. The focus of the Fruit Belt Coalition is to reach out to individuals and groups, and bridge the gaps between generations and nationalities through volunteers, donations, and community participation.
Our Mission
We the members of the Fruit Belt coalition govern to respond as a single community voice and to resolve issues affecting out quality of life. We are to serve our community by insuring the safety of our residents, keeping our community clean and by seeking funding for beautification projects in our community to maintain property values. We believe in community empowerment and self-sufficiency. Our determination allows us to accomplish our goals through monthly meetings and community awareness, We address issues that concern residents while giving them a voice. Together we can build a better foundation.

Petition to save homes in the FruitBelt... Is There a conspiracy against Fruitbelt Stakeholders...How?
Higher property assessments (+) Higher property taxes (=) Gentrification …
It has begun!
Elderly and low income residents of the Fruit Belt area may soon be receiving adjusted property assessments which could lead to the increase of property taxes. This practice called gentrification could result in the neighborhood eventually out pricing current Fruit Belt residents and/or stakeholders from their homes, forcing them to sell; and making way for wealthier homeowners and investors, who are looking to purchase homes, demolish and replace with new “Market-rate houses”. We the under signers are requesting that the City of Buffalo would freeze or reduce assessments within the Fruit Belt area as defined by the following boundaries: north of Cherry Street, south of Best Street, East of Main Street, and west of Jefferson Avenue; for a specified period of time for longtime Fruit Belt residents and stakeholders as property values in the neighborhood increase due to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC).
